This is Tobe Nwigwe, a Houston rapper who kicked down the door of the city’s rap scene back in 2016 — and the city didn’t just let him in, it threw the doors wide open. His style, his lyrics, and his beats were unlike anything we were used to, but somehow they blended perfectly, creating a sound that’s entirely his own. What blows me away is that he’s never strayed from that — never tried to fit a mold. As an artist, that’s a serious inspiration. Seeing someone stay unapologetically true to their style, especially in a world that’s always trying to box you in, is a reminder to keep my own creative voice loud and clear.
