Nostalgia has a way of sneaking up on you — a smell, a taste, or, most powerfully, a sound. Music can be a time machine, pulling you back to moments that shaped you. For me, it's the unmistakable tracks of Joseph McVay, better known as Z-Ro, The Mo City Don. His music, his flow, his unapologetic style — they’re more than just lyrics. They’re a connection to home, to childhood, to good times.
Growing up in Missouri City, TX, "Mo City Don" was the soundtrack of the hood. It was a constant, blaring from speakers, playing in the background of memories — thanks in no small part to an older brother who introduced me to the Screwed Up Click. This hand-cut paper piece is my tribute to that feeling — to the echoes of youth, the pulse of hometown pride, and the soul of Southern rap.
To the One Deep crew, this one’s for you.
