La Mona Lisa

This custom commission is my interpretation of the Mona Lisa, originally painted by Leonardo da Vinci, a piece that has carried mystery, beauty, and quiet power for centuries. And rather than trying to recreate the painting as it is, this work focuses on translating its essence through my own hand-cut process.

Each layer was carefully cut to highlight contrast, depth, and expression, stripping the image down to its most recognizable and human elements. The goal wasn’t perfection, but presence. The calm confidence, the subtle smile, the feeling that she’s watching you as much as you’re watching her.

This piece bridges classical art history and contemporary craft, honoring the past while reimagining it through texture, shadow, and patience. A reminder that some images don’t fade—they evolve.
